A young pediatrician killed by an airstrike on a Syrian hospital was known for his bedside manner with Aleppo’s wounded children. The strike signaled the two-month ceasefire is nearly void.

In Syria, an airstrike on a hospital signals the near total collapse of what’s been a shaky cease-fire. Activists say 27 people were killed in the strike on the hospital. This happened in a rebel-held area of the divided city Aleppo. One of those killed was a pediatrician known for his bedside manner. NPR’s Alice Fordham reports. The death toll at a hospital hit by air strikes in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo rose to at least 50 people, including six medics, the French charity Medecins sans Frontieres said on Friday.
