Law revoking requirement for haredi schools to teach core curriculum expected to pass

Jpost Reports-

“Legislation that will annul a law passed by the previous government requiring haredi elementary schools to teach 11 hours of core curriculum subjects English, Maths and Science was expected to pass its final vote in Knesset on Monday night.

The law will give the Education Minister the power to continue funding haredi elementary schools which do not teach the core curriculum, regardless of the stipulations of the existing law which require steep cuts in government funding for such schools.”

I don’t see why these subjects are not taught in haredi elementary schools. Math and Science can be taught from Talmud Torah.
For instance Tractate Middot (Measures) gives the dimensions of the Temple while basic science (Astronomy, Geometry, Geography and Horticulture) can be taught from Brashith (Genesis) Chapters 1 and 2.10-14.

Basic to advanced mathematics can be taught from for example, Brashith (Genesis) Chapters 1-6.16, 9.13. See Sefer Yetzirah Book of Formation for the types of math found in Genesis 1 and 2!!! Both Brashith (Genesis) Chapters 6.16, 9.13 teaches basic building and the science of light, color and prism.

One Response to Law revoking requirement for haredi schools to teach core curriculum expected to pass

  1. I found a discrepancy in a Wikipedia article on the measurements of the Ark of the Covenant doing “Torah Math” wherein one wikipedia article on the cubit gives a Biblical cubit as approximately 18.00 inches but in the article on the Ark it gives the dimensions of the ark as: “It is to be 2½ cubits in length, 1½ in breadth, and 1½ in height (approximately 131×79×79 cm or 52×31×31 in).” in one place, while in another place in the same article it’s dimensions are “133 centimetres (52 in) long, 80 centimetres (31 in) wide, and 80 centimetres (31 in) high.” If a Biblical cubit is 18 inches and the Ark is 2½ cubits x 1½ x 1½, then the measurements for the Ark is 45″x27″x27″
